About Adam Kokesh

(From DraftKokesh.com)

Adam Charles Kokesh was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and a veteran of the Iraq War. Upon return he became an anti-U.S. occupation of Iraq activist and the Marine Corps tried to effectively downgrade his original honorable discharge in response. Ultimately, the Marine Corps failed to secure the “other than honorable” discharge that was sought, with a military tribunal instead ruling that Kokesh was to receive a general discharge (under honorable conditions.)

May 5

karl-marxMost people recognize today as Cinco de Mayo – the oft misunderstood holiday where Americans get to go drink tequila pretending to celebrate Mexican Independence day. (Although Mexican Independence day isn’t actually until September 17)

Here at HALC we choose instead to recognize May 5th for something else. Karl Marx’s birthday.

With the state of the country and the direction of the Obama administration, it would be imprudent to ignore the man who, arguably made all this possible.

So instead of going out to some Mexican Restaurant tonight, come join us at Saute around 7:00p to gather around the light of Liberty and Capitalism and de-celebrate the birth of Karl Marx!

Robert Murphy, Austrian Economist with a Ph.D. from NYU and frequent contributor to the Ludwig von Mises Institute

Robert Murphy, Austrian Economist with a Ph.D. from NYU and frequent contributor to the Ludwig von Mises Institute

On Friday, May 8 12:00pm, the HPRA speaker will be hosting Robert Murphy, A Ph.D. economist associated with the Mises Institute.

Mr. Murphy will be discussing and signing copies of his new book, “The Politically Incorrect Guide to the Great Depression and the New Deal

As the Obama administration tries to duplicate the “success” of FDR and Keynesian theory in rescuing the American economy from a severe contraction this is an opportunity to learn what members of the economics profession have revealed in the years since the New Deal was launched.

“He puts together in one easy package the research of hundreds of scholars, showing that it was not capitalism that failed in 1929 but the boom times created by Fed credit expansion. Murphy takes aim at the Chicago School economists and the Keynesians who continued to be in denial on this central point.”
