I vote David from Cammas WA for whatever office he will run for!  He’s the fellow standing in the crowd, in the green shirt.  Watch and listen to the crowd as David opens up a huge can of “What For” on U. S. Rep. Brian Baird, CD 3, in the Clark County Town Hall Health Care Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, August 18th….

At 3:00pm today Stefan Molyneux and Jan Helfeld will debate the pros and cons of Anarcho-Capitalism vs Minarchy. Both these men are great philosophers so this will surely be a stimulating debate!

Here’s the awesome “head 2 head” boxer like intro.

What is Minarchism?

Minarchism refers to a political ideology which maintains that the state’s only legitimate function is the protection of individuals from aggression. Minarchists defend the existence of the state as a necessary evil, but assert that it may only act to protect the life, liberty, and property of each individual. A minarchist state would therefore consist simply of courts, a military, and a police force —the mere components of a night watchman state. Generally, minarchists identify themselves within the broader libertarian movement.

What is Anarcho-Capitalism?

Anarcho-Capitalism is an individualist anarchist political philosophy that advocates the elimination of the state and the elevation of the sovereign individual in a free market. In an anarcho-capitalist society, law enforcement, courts, and all other security services are provided by voluntarily-funded competitors such as private defense agencies rather than through compulsory taxation, and money is privately produced in an open market. Because personal and economic activities are regulated by the natural laws of the market through private law rather than through politics, victimless crimes and crimes against the state are rendered moot.

Missing Sentence in Transcript Causes Premature HR 1207 Victory Celebration

Several blogs and forums reported during the past 24 hours that Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Barney Frank, said that Ron Paul’s bill to audit theFederal ReserveHR 1207, will pass in October.

Incorrect Reports about Barney Frank’s Statement on HR 1207

Ron Paul never said that an audit of the Federal Reserve would be inflationary. In fact, he has credibly demonstrated the exact opposite: that the secretive Federal Reserve itself is responsible for inflation, with the dollar having lost 96% of its value since the Fed’s creation in 1913.

Here is what Ron Paul actually said about HR 1207, the bill to audit the Federal Reserve, and why only a real audit will protect the public’s interest.

Someone who pointed me to Glenn Beck’s website for another show he did on health care and I ran across this article.  It’s a portion of the audio and text of an album that Ronald Reagan did during the AMA‘s opposition in the late 50s and early 60s to the Democrats’ plan to extend Social Security to include health insurance for the elderly.  At that time, Reagan was “just an actor from California.”  Dubbed  Operation Coffee Cup Campaign,  this album would be played at coffee meetings organized by doctors’ wives attempting to convince acquaintances to write letters to Congress opposing the program.

Click the link below to hear the audio or just read the transcript below of Glenn Beck’s comments and the actual audio of Reagan himself.  Or, for the full audio and transcript of the speech, see what The Lonely Conservative had to say about it.  I did read a good portion of The Lonely Conservative’s transcript but saw a few small errors, so use at your caution.

At one point in the audio/transcript, you hear/read what’s called in layman’s terms the “frog and boiling pot of water” analogy as to implementation of forcing changes upon a populace unwilling to go full speed ahead on an outright, disclosed plan (agenda)…  Hmmm, me thinks we keep having to re-fight the same old BS subversive crap every 40-50 yrs.  I guess they think we either forgot about it or won’t figure it out on our own by doing a little research.  Our parents and grandparents didn’t have it that easy.  But, thank God it’s 2009 and Al Gore invented the internet. :-P

GLENN: Now, somebody sent me, a watchdog sent me some old video of Ronald Reagan. This is about three weeks ago. And I thought, you know what, that’s kind of cool because it’s an old video of Ronald Reagan, but we’ve got to hippen this up a little bit. We have to be able to make this into something that people will want to listen to and watch and so Nick, one of our unbelievable producers on this program along with Eric oh, Eric Chase was involved, too? I haven’t even heard this yet. This is how much I trust these two guys. I know this is amazing. Ronald Reagan on healthcare.

Summary of this week’s report:
There’s a battle raging in Texas public schools. Race based lobbies and multicultural social engineers would like to rewrite textbooks by ignoring or downplaying the importance of some historical figures because they’re the wrong race, while vastly overstating the importance of others simply because they were members of a different race. The education of our children shouldn’t be politicized and distorted to placate race based pressure groups. We need to get involved to ensure that our kids get the best education possible, not the one that’s the most PC.

Full report:

Few institutions are as important as our public schools when it comes to the future of Texas and our nation.  It’s true that the numbers of children in private schools and home schooling are growing, but they don’t come close to public school enrollment. It’s impossible to overstate how much influence our public schools have on future generations.  It’s critically important that our children get the best education possible, and that we don’t use our schools for experiments in radical social engineering.  Nor should we rewrite the history of Texas and the United States to placate secularist liberals and aggressive race based activist groups.

*** Update: Barney Frank never actually said this specific thing.

We have to temper our excitement about this claim by Barney Frank, because, let’s face it, he’s been known to reverse his position in the past.

kbh homeAccording to the Dallas News, Texas Senator Kay Baily Hutchinson is selling her primary Virginia home to move back to Texas. The 4 bed, 4.5 bath, 4,300 sq/ft home is currently listed at 1.45 million. Hutchinson has thrown her hat in the ring for the 2010 gubernatorial race against incumbent Rick Perry.

It’s a shame Hutchinson  just can’t govern from her hometown in Virginia. Surely she would be much more comfortable there. Maybe she’ll move back if she wins the race. Here’s hoping…

James Corbett
The Corbett Report

25 August, 2009

In an interview released today by Digg and the Wall Street Journal, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was pressured about the growing popular movement to Audit the Fed spearheaded by Texas Congressman Ron Paul. A visibly uncomfortable Geithner attempts to dismiss the question by stating “I’m sure people understand that you want to keep politics out of monetary policy.” When Geithner is again pressed on the issue, he makes the stunning assertion that conducting an audit of the Federal Reserve—something never before done in its 96 year history—is a “line that we don’t want to cross,” proclaiming that such a move would be “problematic for the country.” Watch the interview in the player below:

Federal Reserve bldg

Aug. 25  (Bloomberg) — The Federal Reserve must for the first time identify the companies in its emergency lending programs after losing a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.

Manhattan Chief U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska ruled against the central bank yesterday, rejecting the argument that loan records aren’t covered by the law because their disclosure would harm borrowers’ competitive positions.

The Fed has refused to name the financial firms it lent to or disclose the amounts or the assets put up as collateral under 11 programs, most put in place during the deepest financial crisis since the Great Depression, saying that doing so might set off a run by depositors and unsettle shareholders. Bloomberg LP, the New York-based company majority-owned by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, sued on Nov. 7 on behalf of its Bloomberg News unit.
