Democratic Congressman Gene Green, representing Texas’s 29th Congressional District, will be holding five town hall meetings over the next two months (he has already had three, as of 8/5/09). These town hall meetings are a great opportunity for liberty loving and constitutionally minded citizens such as ourselves to discuss our concerns with an influential member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which recently produced two pieces of legislation that have caught the public’s attention:
1. HR 2454 “American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009″, aka “Cap and Trade” or more appropriately “Cap and Tax”; and
2. HR 3200 “America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009″, aka “Health Insurance Reform” or more appropriately “ObamaCare.”
Rep Gene Green is holding town hall meetings in August & September as follows:
- August 5, George Sanchez School @ 6:30 PM (map, RSVP w/ HALC)
- August 18, Manchester @ 7:00 PM (map, RSVP w/ HALC)
- August 19, Baytown @ 6:30 PM (map, RSVP w/ HALC)
- August 20, Meadowcreek Village @ 7:00 PM (map, RSVP / HALC)
- September 1, Pasadena @ 6:30 PM (map, RSVP w/ HALC)
Please consider attending one or more of these town hall meetings and take advantage of this timely opportunity to educate Representative Green about the detrimental effects these pieces of legislation will have on Houston and the entire country, and to remind him of his obligation to support and defend the Constitution. If you’re a voting resident of the 29th Congressional District, please remember to say so if you have an opportunity to speak - this will impress upon Rep. Gene Green that his constituents are upset by his recent voting record.
If you’re able to attend, don’t forget to ask Rep. Gene Green about his position on HR 1207 ”Audit the Fed”!
