Houston Area Liberty Campaign

August is finally over. We’ve attended a multitude of Town Hall meetings only to learn that our Congressmen not only feign ignorance of the many fundamental flaws in the pending health care reform bills, but are largely uninterested in engaging with their constituents to identify and mitigate these flaws and our concerns. Our Democratic representatives filibuster by spouting platitudes ad nauseam while refusing to answer our questions, and our Republican representatives make beautiful speeches about the need for constitutional and free-market reforms without having done anything meaningful in the halls of Congress to stop the fast-approaching health care fiasco.

Friends and patriots, if our elected Representatives refuse to look out for our interests and instead pursue the agendas of their Parties over that of their constituents then we must act immediately to replace them with someone who will. We must use utilize every electoral avenue if we are to reclaim Congress for the citizens of each Congressional District. This means that liberty loving and constitutionally minded people within each district must organize, support one or more like-minded insurgent candidates, and work to see them elected to office. If an area predominantly supports one party, we must support (or select) a candidate to run in their primary. If that endeavor is unsuccessful, we must then support a like-minded candidate of the party opposite or a third-party candidate. Only through electoral pressure and success will we convince Congress that their attempts to remake the American economy are antithetical to our values and to our liberties.

It is in this spirit that I invite you to join me for an Elections Action Group teleconference at 8 PM on Wednesday, September 9. We will be discussing what the Houston Area Liberty Campaign can do to connect liberty loving and constitutionally minded candidates in any and all parties with grassroots activists around the Houston Area, how to organize ourselves to effectively spread the word about our preferred candidates, and how to empower motivated members of our movement to run for office themselves. If you are interested in helping the HALC leadership to organize these efforts, or just want to hear what you can do to help, please call in and participate.
