If you have recently freely done, heard or observed any of the following, thank a vet today or ANY day!!
- Called, emailed, snail mailed or visited your State or U. S. Congressperson’s office;
- Shown up at your city’s City Council Meeting, or worked at or shown up at a TEA Party, 9-12 or We Surround them gathering;
- Flown a Confederate flag (free speech issue), a Gadsden flag or the American flag up-side-down (as a sign of distress in the country over recent events, laws and policies);
- Burned a flag as a sign of protest (hey, it’s still legal right now, just be prepared to get the ever-living snot beat out of you or get duct taped to a flagpole at the VFW by a few of those aforesaid vets if you do so…);
- Protested in a public place;
- Walked down the street unescorted whenever you please if you’re not a land-owning white male;
- Gone to church, mass, parish, prayer service or synagogue and prayed or prayed at work or school;
- You, your Mom, Dad or Granny wrote and put on the web patriotic poems or a story about life after military life;
- Shouted out “YOU LIE!” at someone of questionable national origin in our highest elected office who consistently impugns the United States’ character, people and values from the galley in the House of Representatives (even if it’s true, since truth is an absolute defense to slander, defamation and libel);
- Not had to bow or prostrate if that same impugner passes by in a motorcade or in person.
Yes, for these and many other reasons, liberties and rights you have, please take the time to thank a vet today, and every day. Even watch this great, original YouTube video “Thank a Vet,” by kehenry1 or “If I Die Before You Wake,” by IRFilmz2. Maybe even get the initiative out yourself and record some of their stories before they’re gone forever, lest we not forget. Or try the Library of Congress’ effort to do the same. Vets are our lifeline to freedom and prosperity.
