Our friends at Ron Paul Forums have started an impromptu mini money bomb for Debra Medina today stating:

It’s Friday, pay day. Debra Medina did very well in the debate last night and deserves your support to get her message to Texans. The media is already declaring her the winner.

One of the Forum Bombers in the thread says, “Keep it up! She said on the radio today that she has raised 25K since the debate last night.”

Thanks to all of you who are donating money, time, and resources to get Debra Medina elected the next Governor of Texas.

[Original article from TargetFreedom.com, story links by HALC.us staff.]

Vermont State Rep. Fred Maslack read the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, as well as Vermont’s own Constitution very carefully, and his strict interpretation of these documents is popping some eyeballs in New England and elsewhere.

During his term in 2000 Maslack proposed House Bill 760 to register “non-gun-owners” and require them to pay a $500 fee to the state. Thus Vermont would have become the first state to require a permit for going about unarmed and assess a fee of $500 for the privilege of not owning a gun. This might look bad at first, because it would seem to be registration of gun owners by process of elimination. But there is another factor to consider: You can buy a gun for less than $500, and avoid the tax. In this way no one would have to “register”  or pay the tax. They could fulfill the duty required by the second amendment at a lower cost.

Maslack read the “militia” phrase of the Second Amendment as not only affirming the right of the individual citizen to bear arms, but as a clear mandate to do so. He believes that universal gun ownership was advocated by the Framers of the Constitution as an antidote to a “monopoly of force” by the government as well as criminals.

"By calling attention to ‘a well regulated militia’, the ’security’ of the nation, and the right of each citizen ‘to keep and bear arms’, our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important." - John F. Kennedy, April 1960. Hell will freeze over before we would ever see BO in a photo of comparable awesomeness.

I saw this fellow, Lord Christopher Monckton, speak at the North Houston TEA Party on November 2nd, at Sam Houston Race Park.  Excellent speaker.

In this video clip, Lord Christopher Monckton, former science adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, points out that Barack Husein Obama (I’m not sullying the Office of the President by ceding that to him) is ready to sign a United Nations Climate Change Treaty, thereby  allowing the United Nations fully run all climate policies in the United States, as well as most other industrialized nations in the world.

The Minnesota Free Market Institute hosted an event at Bethel University in St. Paul on Wednesday evening, October 14th. Keynote speaker Lord Monckton gave a scathing and lengthy presentation, complete with detailed charts, graphs, facts, and figures which culminated in the utter decimation of both the pop culture concept of global warming and the credible threat of any significant anthropomorphic climate change.

Sail on, Oh Ship of State!
Sail on, Oh Union strong and great.
Humanity with all its fears
With all the hope of future years
Is hanging breathless on thy fate.”

As ever yours,

Franklin D. Roosevelt (to Winston Churchill on January 20, 1941)

A key congressional panel on Thursday approved legislation introduced by the Texas congressman that – for the first time in the central bank’s 95-year-history — would require government audits of Federal Reserve monetary policy, as well as how much the central bank has lent and will lend to specific banks.

Fed Chief Ben Bernanke and other key members of the Obama administration, including Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, had vigorously opposed the move.

The measure was approved by the House Financial Services Committee as it considered broad bank regulatory reform legislation, and included a package of other measures weakening the Fed’s power and capping how much it can lend or guarantee.

The committee is now poised to pass the entire bill and has scheduled its final vote on the legislation for December 1.

ACTION:  Call, fax or send a postcard to your U.S. Rep.  Don’t email!! (Most don’t keep e-mail, as they’re not legally bound to do so!!) Or better yet, stop by his/her local office.  They must log in visitors, so you can’t be ignored there. Tell him/her you DEMAND that they not vote to end the “Audit the Fed” legislation.  Tell him/her you demand the language be re-instated, as it had been written, or you will campaign with every breath in your body to get them out of office!! [Find your U. S. Rep. here, on upper left side.]

Oct. 30 (Bloomberg) — Representative Ron Paul, the Texas Republican who has called for an end to the Federal Reserve, said legislation he introduced to audit monetary policy has been gutted while moving toward a possible vote in the Democratic-controlled House.

The bill, with 308 co-sponsors, has been stripped of provisions that would remove Fed exemptions from audits of transactions with foreign central banks, monetary policy deliberations, transactions made under the direction of the Federal Open Market Committee and communications between the Board, the reserve banks and staff, Paul said today.

Theres nothing left, its been gutted, he said in a telephone interview. This is not a partisan issue. People all over the country want to know what the Fed is up to, and this legislation was supposed to help them do that.

One of the most important reasons for becoming a precinct chair is to serve as an election judge. If a party has a vacancy for the precinct chair and election judge in a precinct, that election judge is appointed. This has resulted in liberal precincts holding elections with NO CONSERVATIVE JUDGES OR CLERKS AT ALL! And when there is no opposing-party judge to challenge any attempts at voter fraud, the potential for fraud is greatly increased. Election integrity depends upon this balance of judges from opposing parties.

Please attend one of the following  Houston Patriotic Resistance’s (along with several other groups) presentations on becoming a precinct chair and achieving better election integrity:

What: Be a direct influence on your party and become a Precinct Chair (Harris County residents).  (Each of these training sessions is self-contained.  You would only attend ONE of them, as they are not a “series” of training sessions.)

In addition to the Empower Texans’ recommendations of the Texas State Constitutional Amendments, here is another analysis by The House Research Organization, a non-partisan source of impartial information on legislation and issues considered by the Texas Legislature. The HRO is an independent administrative department of the Texas House of Representatives. It is governed by a broadly representative steering committee of 15 House members elected by the House membership to set policy for the organization, approve its budget, and ensure that its reports are objective.

House Research Organization

The HRO’s analysis has a bit more background and gives pros and cons of each amendment as well as actual text of the amendments, so that you may make informed decisions when you vote.

You can early vote between Monday, October 19th and Friday, October 30th.  Early voting will be held:

(Mon) October 19 – (Fri) October 23      8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
(Sat) October 24                                  7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
(Sun) October 25                                 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
(Mon) October 26 – (Fri) October 30     7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
